Blood Transfusion And Your Health

Research show that one in three transfusions are being administered, which under health guidelines, they should not have been. Health guidelines call for a blood transfusion if the patent's hemoglobin level is seven or below. A study conducted on the use of blood, emphasized that giving an unnecessary transfusion could have a serious health implication or even kill a patient by inducing heart failure. A similar study conducted later show that about 18,000 Australians died in one year as result of health complications that developed directly as a result of medical treatment they received. As a patient you have the right to remind your doctor of the health guidelines as regard blood transfusion when the need arises.

In this technological and scientifically driven world, it is possible for a patient to be treated without blood transfusion. Many treatment methods are available that does not require blood transfusion and many doctors are aware of it all around the globe. Although many of them will be quick to recommending a blood transfusion. You have the right to choose what type of treatment your doctor should give you. Remember your health is at stake.
